In the original lore though, the Insurrection did have groups as portrayed in the show, but they also had planetary defense forces, militias, and terror cells who were organised and dressed as a professional army, and with equipment comparable to the UNSC. I'm also thinking the apprehension comes from how the Insurrection is presented rather than the idea of basing the show primarily on the UNSC vs Insurrectionist conflict.įor example as you pointed out it's portraying the Insurrection as having few if any faults, while the UNSC act at times cartoonishly evil.Īs of yet the insurrection has been primarily portrayed as dirty ragtag rebels out of some cheesy 90s movie, with weird hairstyles, dirty clothes with no semblance of being military apparel, and equipment basically stuck in the 21st century. What are your thoughts? Should the Halo series focus far less on the Insurrection or none at all, keeping it to just humanity vs aliens? Or do you enjoy what the show is doing? Allowing the seasons to feel quite different from one another. Perhaps the Flood are teased in season 2 end, and if their is a season 3, the Flood became the main threat of the season, like they evolved to in Halo CE. Season 2 focusing on a more united humanity (probably) and fighting the Covenant and discovery of the Halo Ring. Season 1 focused on a divided humanity amongst alien invasion. I see the Insurrection as a seasonal theme. So the focus on fighting the Covenant will expand further as the series progresses. We have the whole "find the halo win the war" thing that will happen. Reach will either be destroyed to or saved for next season. Madrigal is going to get glassed before the end of this season. Probably less outer colony worlds have been glassed in Silver then they have in canon, which is why more Innies take the Covenant (or don't even think they exist) as less of a threat then they are in canon 2552.īut im certain this strong focus on the Insurrection is not going to last throughout the entire show. Though I'm personally ok with a still divided humanity during Silver 2552, I don't need a carbon copy of canon Lore. Maybe some had little to no knowledge about the Insurrection, seeing it very odd then for a Halo series to explore them. So I can see the reason why some fans are disgruntled in the Insurrection sharing screen time alongside the Covenant, preferring to mainly have the focus on humanity fighting covenant like it was in the games. By that time most of all of humanity is rallied against the covenant. Add that to the fact of canon 2552 having little Innie activity. Though fighting the insurrection movement it becomes more grey. Which made sense, in the context of fighting genocidal aliens the UNSC are defiantly the good guys. After all we are so used to seeing the UNSC portrayed in a positive light in the games. Perhaps far isle nuking also happened in the Silver timeline.īut I do understand why there is resistance to this by a good portion of fans. I don't think the UNSC would be above killing an Innie kid, especially because they already killed some children whom weren't even innies (the spartan program). In the tv series, and the UNSC having a dark side (though the whole trash planet with slave kids was dumb).
